Last week, Dallas encountered freezing temperatures and the grueling effects of Winter Storm Uri. We hope that you and your family stayed as safe and warm as possible despite any loss of electricity, water, or daily comforts.
Dallas pets also endured the weather with the help of Dallas Animal Services (DAS) and citizens like you! Between February 11-17, DAS received 1,338 Service Requests, a 26% increase from the week before. Most of these calls were welfare checks on pets that were outdoors in the record-setting frigid weather Dallas saw last week.
According to DAS, “Our staff worked around the clock, including mandatory overtime, to ensure that Dallas pets were safe. We braved the dangerous road conditions to continue to provide care, enrichment, surgeries, and medical care to pets at the shelter.”
Thanks to the staff’s commitment throughout the storm, DAS provided top-notch care and found positive outcomes for pets like these two kittens! 🐾❄️
